Dear Friends and Family

The year's Holiday letter finds the
Hanson-Kleine family on the verge of a significant event - Jared's marriage to Seema Srivastava. The big event takes place in Gwalior, India on December 27th. The USA contingent flies out on December 20th and at this moment we are in the midst of last minute preparations. We will get back to you all after our return to the USA on January 5th with pictures on our website.

Rich still enjoys his position as Director of Site Operations, for Charming Interactive/ Charming Shoppes, Inc. His group launched a second successful e-commerce site and gift card operations this past year. As part of his interest in the acoustic music scene in the NYC area, he is now doing websites for a couple of emerging singers. He and Susan still attend concerts and plays regularly.

Susan continues to work at her museum consulting practice, History Behind the Scenes, full time. She led a team of consultants on a research trip to Ireland last February, where they did field research in western Ireland and library research in Dublin to generate a Master Plan for a proposed living history museum that will interpret a rural village in 1860s Ireland. Currently, she is working on preservation and program planning for Howell Living History Farm, a 1900 site, in New Jersey. Susan and her nephew, Tim Davis, are in the midst of organizing the extensive family archives from her mother's estate. The World War II era materials are of special interest to both.

All three members of the younger generation moved into new residences in 2003. After 8 years on the waiting list,
Andrea and Jill moved into a large 1 bedroom apartment, with balcony, in Manhattan Plaza, an apartment complex for performing artists and senior citizens, in midtown Manhattan. They are now in the same building where Susan's sister, Deborah, has lived for 25 years. Andrea and Jill still pursue their performance, film and writing interests.

Hilary left New York and returned to Richmond, VA, to accept a policy analyst position at the headquarters office of United Network of Organ Sharing [UNOS]. She works as a liaison to UNOS' Pediatric Committee, a group of physicians who develop policy on organ transplants for children. Her new boyfriend, Josh, will travel to India with the USA contingent.

Jared and Seema moved out of their tiny studio apartment, and into a one-bedroom apartment in the Gramercy Park section of Manhattan's East Side. Jared is in the 2nd year of a 4-year program to become a naturopathic physician at the University of Bridgeport. Seema is writing her doctoral dissertation in art history at NYU. They traveled to France this summer, where Seema did dissertation research.

The parental generation appreciates these new residential situations, easily accessible by elevator or on lower floors, and happily abandoned the climbs to 4th and 5th floor walk-ups.

We wish you and yours all the very best for 2004.
